Conditions of Awards

Awards will be granted only to applicants judged by the Advisory Committee to be capable of high quality.

  1. All successful applicants will be required to submit a brief statement of accounts, and must keep the Trust informed of any other grants, public or private, which they may receive.
  2. All successful applicants will be required to provide written reports together with two photographs and their copyrights, at agreed intervals, on the work for which a grant has been given. Strict confidentiality is observed with regard to research in progress.
  3. Importance is laid on the intention to publish research and information on projects carried out with The Barakat Trust assistance. Recipients of awards must make due acknowledgement of The Barakat Trust's support in any publication resulting from the research or project, and provide The Barakat Trust with a copy of any such publication.
  4. The Advisory Committee retains the right to withdraw the offer of a grant not taken up within twelve months of the award having been made.
  5. From receiving notification of an award and supplying all required paperwork (financial details and signed Conditions of Acceptance letters) it can take many weeks for grants to reach the recipient, as the Trust has to comply with stringent UK legislation preventing fraud and money laundering. We are obliged to be entirely transparent in our paperwork, and request that grantees respect the amount of time needed to achieve this.
